OVCS becomes the first legal cannabis store in the Pembroke area | 104.9 Pembroke Today
OVCS, short for Ottawa Valley Cannabis Store, is the first cannabis retail store to open up the Pembroke area. Owner and operator Ryan Labelle says getting approval was a lengthy, but fair process, that allows local business owners like himself to open up shop. Labelle says they opened up Friday, September 25th, after getting the final approvals.
The owner of OVCS says they’ve had a lot of great feedback from the community. Labelle adds you don’t need a doctors note to enter, just proof that you’re over the age of 19.
OVCS is located at 1035 Pembroke Street East (across from the Bulk Barn in Pembroke). The store open 7-days a week and hours of operation, along with a list of products are available on their website OVCS.online. Labelle says you can also follow their Facebook page for updates.
OVCS has been waiting several months for the final green light to open up shop with the application presented to Laurentian Valley council back in May.
The first cannabis retail store in the Pembroke area comes almost two years after marijuana was legalized in Canada on October 17th of 2018.
